This Friday is Friday the 13th so be careful and watch out for machete-wielding hockey-masked killers. Or… go watch THE machete-wielding hockey-masked killer as Jason Voorhees returns to the screen at the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington, Long Island, New York. The mini Friday the 13th marathon, presented by Retro Picture Show, kicks off at 10PM with Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning, followed by Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, with both films screening in 35mm.

Halloween made a killing over its opening weekend, grossing over $76 million. Its success has now opened the doors for other iconic horror franchises to be given the reboot treatment. According to new reports, a Friday the 13th reboot is in the works, and LeBron James‘ SpringHill Entertainment and Vertigo Entertainment are in talks to bring Jason back.

But it’s not just because of Halloween‘s success that another horror franchise reboot is in the works. There’s more to it than that. More on the report below.

The stars of horror aligned and today is Friday the 13th… in October. While Michael Myers owns the month, this is Jason Voorhees’ day. The Friday the 13th franchise goes back to 1980, when Sean S. Cunningham directed the original as a slasher ripoff of John Carpenter’s Halloween. Jason made his debut at the very end in one of horror’s legit greatest jump scares. His legend grew instantly, and by decade’s end, he was 8 (!) films deep. Now nearly 40 years later, the franchise has produced 10 films, 1 crossover, 1 remake, and a short-lived TV series”¦ and damned if that doesn’t add up to 13! Netflix has released a Friday the 13th teaser for the highly anticipated upcoming second season of Stranger Things.

The teaser is for the final season two trailer, which is set to be released tomorrow. Now in most cases I think trailers for trailers are ridiculous and wouldn’t waste your time with them. But this particular trailer tease is fittingly made in the same style as a trailer for one of the old Friday the 13th movies, and that’s pretty darn awesome.
