You know how it is with greeting cards: You pick a generic one with a poem or sonnet that no one ever reads and right after the holiday they’re dumped in the paper recycling bin. Well, not anymore. Ghost Girl Greetings is reimagining greeting cards with a pop culture twist, drawing and writing cards that are perfect for any occasion for all the horror hounds and geeks in your life.
Instead of the usual disposable cards, Ghost Girls Greetings’ offerings will become fixtures and talking pieces whenever people see them. The company has an Etsy store and was started by two genre-loving “ghoulfriends,” Laurie Necco and Toni Gabriele.
The company has a selection of cards for birthdays or simply to give that special someone in your life a reminder of how special they are”¦ only with the Ghost Girls charm. One of my favorites has Jason Voorhees on the cover and says, “You’re the CH-CH-CH to my AH-AH-AH.” Or having George McFly tell your loved one, “You’re my Density”¦ I mean Destiny.” Other cards feature original artwork of some of your favorite characters from The Walking Dead, Star Wars, and Ash vs Evil Dead.
The Ghost Girls actually just collaborated with Kelly Maxwell herself, Dana DeLorenzo from the STARZ series. DeLorenzo always dreamed of creating greeting cards and contributed ideas and quotes for her card. The Ghost Girls picked her “You’re Filthy”¦ and Fine” quote. That is now part of an Ash vs Evil Dead set along with a Pablo (Ray Santiago) card and of course, an Ash (Bruce Campbell) card. You can buy them individually, or do what I did and buy the set. The cards on their site are $5.50 each and the Ash vs Evil Dead 3-card set is $13. They are beautifully drawn, clever, funny, and above everything else unique. And if Kelly Maxwell supports them, you should too!
Ghost Girl Greetings are on twitter: @GhostGirlGrtngs and on Instagram at ghostgirlgreetings. And if you live in the tri-state area, you can meet them in person, as they’ll be vending at Jersey Devil Fest in Asbury Park, NJ on April 7th and at Geek Flea in Kearny, NJ on April 28th.
And as a friendly reminder from Dana DeLorenzo, the Ghost Girls, and myself”¦ make sure you watch Ash vs Evil Dead every Sunday night at 9:00 PM on STARZ and download the STARZ app now.
