Although we’ve seen a very action-packed trailer for Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, there hasn’t been too much in the way of images from the film, which is coming to theaters this May.
That’s likely about to change, as Empire magazine has revealed the cover for their new issue and it features the suited-up Avengers — Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo, mocap/CGI), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and (Jeremy Renner), along with newcomers Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). An alternate limited edition cover spotlights Ultron (voiced by James Spader in the film).
The issue comes out on January 29, 2015, and will contain a 20-page Marvel exclusives, including new images from Avengers: Age of Ultron and interviews with director Joss Whedon and more. Check out the covers here below.
Empire has teased some of the content from their upcoming issue, including a quote from Whedon about how he’s been siding with Ultron lately.
“I’ve been working on a lot of Ultron scenes,” Whedon grinned when we caught up with him, “so I’m very anti-Avengers right now. You can’t write someone if you don’t love them and I’ve come to the conclusion that Ultron is right. The Avengers need to die.”
The magazine visited the film’s set at Shepperton Studios and spoke with Whedon and and got to see some of the movie come together, so we’ll likely get a lot of details about Ultron from the new issue, along with new movie stills and behind-the-scenes looks.
Marvel Studios presents “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.
Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Don Cheadle as James Rhodes/War Machine, Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill and Stellan SkarsgÃ¥rd as Erik Selvig, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision.
Written and directed by Joss Whedon and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963.
