Chris Hemsworth in Snow White and the Huntsman

The cast for the sequel to 2012’s Snow White and the Huntsman is getting more and more impressive, more than compensating for the removal of the Snow White character, who was played in the first movie by The Twilight Saga star Kristen Stewart.

Academy Award nominated actress Jessica Chastain is the latest to join the Universal Pictures production, which is simply titled The Huntsman at the moment. Also confirmed for the cast is Emily Blunt, who was reported to be in talks for a villain role in January when The Shawshank Redemption director and The Walking Dead creator Frank Darabont departed as director.

The duo joins stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor, The Avengers, The Cabin in the Woods), who reprises his role as the Huntsman, and Charlize Theron (Monster, Prometheus, Mad Max: Fury Road), who returns as Queen Ravenna. Also confirmed to be returning is Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz star Nick Frost as the dwarf Nion. It was thought at first that Frost and all but a couple of the other dwarfs from the original would not be returning for the sequel, but now it’s unclear if Frost’s return means there will be more than two appearing in the sequel or if he’s now playing one of the two.

Chastain is best known for her roles in The Tree of Life, The Help, Zero Dark Thirty, Interstellar, and most recently, A Most Violent Year. Her upcoming projects include Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak (watch the trailer right here), Ridley Scott’s The Martian, and Blonde, where she’ll play Marilyn Monroe in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford director Andrew Dominik.

Blunt’s previous roles include The Devil Wears Prada, Looper, Edge of Tomorrow, and Into the Woods. She can next be seen playing a young FBI agent who joins a CIA operation to take down a Mexican cartel boss in Sicario from Prisoners and Enemy director Denis Villeneuve, which also stars Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin, Jon Bernthal, and Jeffrey Donovan.

The Huntsman will be directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, a visual effects artist who was nominated for an Oscar for his work on the first movie who’s making his feature directorial debut.
