Chris Hemsworth, best known for his big-screen portrayal of Thor in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, was the host for this week’s Saturday Night Live, where he put aside his action-hero stance to display his comedic chops.
The actor is one of the headline stars of Marvel’s highly anticipated Avengers: Age Of Ultron, which, this Summer, will see The Avengers team — Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk, and more — face off against Ultron and his army.
The sketch showed the massive Hemsworth in his mighty Thor attire, Mjolnir in hand, in New York City celebrating The Avengers’ victory over Ultron just minutes before while a news reporter tries to interview him live.
Watch the video of the “Avengers News Report” sketch here below.
In the scene, the overly excited Thor high-fives the crowd; does the Running Man and Pop and Lock dances; and sings the ultimate victory tune, Queen’s “We Are The Champions.” He’s so cranked up from the win, that he uses his 15-minutes of fame on the news to stick it in his ex-girlfriend’s face.
“To my ex Jane, how you like me now?”
Eventually, The God of Thunder’s Avengers teammates join him before the cameras one by one: Iron Man (in a spot-in impression by Taran Cullen); The Hulk, who’s not sure if he ate a guy during the Battle of New York; goodie two shoes Captain America, who urges the public to stay in their homes as Thor stands behind mocking him; and Nick Fury, who like every winning coach, gets some Gatorade poured over his head. It winds down with Thor’s endearing shout out to his nemesis brother Loki, as well as the reveal of location of the Avengers victory celebration — Dave & Busters!
Oh, and Thor says sorry to the people of New York for destroying their city.
And that his loves his life (who can blame him?!).
