Lady Rawhide Lady Zorro #1 has some serious girl power going on, and it’s a whole lot of fun! Except for maybe The Lone Ranger and Zorro, I can’t think of two other characters from the Western genre that would make a more entertaining team up. Just be glad that Dynamite Entertainment decided to put this book out!
Writer Shannon Eric Denton’s writing credits are as long as both my arms, and way too long to list here. Let’s just say that he’s got a lot of experience under his belt, and a good portion of it are stories set in the Old West. He uses that experience here to craft a really exciting, entertaining story focusing on Lady Rawhide and Lady Zorro. What I liked about this story is that when we join the ladies, they’re already working together, so we don’t have to read the traditional “heroes meet, they fight, they team-up” cliches that are usually the norm for books like this. Plus, Denton is a master of the cliffhanger. This issue is packed with them, from front to back. He throws in a healthy dose of action, and it all makes for a really good read.
Artist Rey Villegas is no stranger to Lady Rawhide. Or Lady Zorro. Or the Western genre. So, logic says that he’d be right at home drawing this book, and folks, he sure is! Villegas has a talent for drawing the scenery, settings, and props of the Old West, so everything in this issue looks like it belongs there. It also helps that he has a special gift for drawing lovely ladies. But don’t worry, he’s not an artist who draws them impossibly proportioned, if you know what I mean.
Never picked up an issue of either character? That’s OK, everything you need to know is here. You’re not going to be confused, only entertained by this issue. Pick up Lady Rawhide Lady Zorro #1, you’re really going to love it!
