Just in time for this release, Noel St. Clair wrote up fun little aptitude tests for us to figure out which faction we would belong to, in The Unofficial Divergent Aptitude Test: Discover Your True Faction! Personally, I think we all are a bit too complicated to be any one thing. So aren’t we all “divergent?”

After a small intro and an even smaller how-to section, the book consists of 50 questions, where you answer what you would do given different scenarios, and then a section breaking down who you would be in today’s world.

Scenario example: Quiz #43 – The Relationship Deal Breaker

The gist: You’ve been dating a great guy for three months and things are going awesome. Something happened that made you realize he’s not the forever guy.

What happened that made you change your mind about him?
A. He said he was home when he was really out with his friends – lying.
B. He said he still talks to his ex and you found out they met for coffee every week.
C. He got into a fight that another guy started. You didn’t like that he fought at all.
D. You told him you dream of going on a hot air balloon ride. He’s scared of airplanes. you want someone to share your sense of adventure.
E. Just a feeling you have.
F. A homeless guy asks for his leftovers and he says no.

You can only pick one answer, and this question was hard for me. I think A and B for lying, and F because c’mon!

In the breakdown section, each faction gets an analysis and then for fun, some possible stats like Amity’s role model is John Lennon and holiday is Earth day.

The book is geared more towards teens. I mean, the only time I get called to the principal’s office is for him to give me more work since he’s my boss.

One thing I didn’t need a book to figure out….I could never be mistaken for Dauntless. I am so afraid of heights, I start having a panic attack on an extra high bouncy slide.

Dauntless! Only 10 points in, but I guess I’m more dauntless in personality, rather than acton. I do like to wear black also.
