This week’s Digital Wire Blu-ray Releases has news on several impending video releases, including one of the most popular and controversial films of last year, two sequels in a classic 1980’s slasher franchise, and a pair of forgettable genre efforts from early this year.

The most controversial of this year’s Best Picture Oscar nominees, Clint Eastwood‘s true life war drama American Sniper, starring Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller, comes to Blu-ray and DVD from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on May 19, 2015. The harrowing and violent film, which has grossed over $540 million at the box office worldwide to date and inspired countless debates over its subject matter, will be presented in 1080p with lossless 7.1 surround and Dolby Atmos and feature the following extras:

Shout! Factory’s horror/sci-fi shingle Scream Factory has a ton of major new releases on tap for this summer, and among them will be the first two sequels to the cult classic slasher movie Sleepaway Camp. Both films will be remastered in high-definition and feature some revealing new supplements, including commentaries, documentaries, and gory deleted scenes. Their release date is June 9, 2015. First up is 1988’s Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers, starring Pamela Springsteen (sister of Bruce) as transgendered psychopath Angela. Extras on Scream’s Blu-ray/DVD combo pack will include:

The recent horror feature The Lazarus Effect left theaters almost as soon as it premiered, but the latest scare show from Blumhouse Productions (Insidious, The Purge franchises) might have a chance at finding an audience on home video when 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment brings it to Blu-ray and DVD on June 16, 2015.
