Does Daniel Craig Hide In Plain Sight In ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’?

Daniel Craig

If we are to believe the latest rumor for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, then fans will have to be on the lookout for a certain StormTrooper. We know that John Boyega and Gwendoline Christie will be playing Stormtroopers, with the former playing a regular one while the latter more of an elite version of the First Order – the new name of the Galactic Empire.

Now, we are hearing rumors that Daniel Craig will also be playing a Stormtrooper, although we may not know which one because he will play one of the many we will see in the film. More on that below.

The news was first reported on The Independent, who spoke to actor Simon Pegg about his Star Wars set visit. Here’s what he told the site,

I wasn’t a Stormtrooper. Daniel Craig, he was a Stormtrooper. I shouldn’t have said that.

There is something missing from this, and it sounds like Pegg was joking when he said this. But before we throw up our arms that a secret cameo was ruined, Pegg did clarify his comments to Collider.

Why is everyone leaping on this? It was a rumour last summer, wasn’t it? I read it in the paper. It may be untrue, like most of the other rumours, like Cumberbatch and Cruise being in it.

It’s not hard to believe that fans would be all over the news, especially since the quote doesn’t have any context. For all we know Pegg’s original quote could have been told in a joking matter. Then there are times outlets just don’t include that kind of information or they just take it out of context. Whatever the case may be, it doesn’t sound like Daniel Craig is in the film.

Directed by J.J. Abrams upcoming sequel will see the return of original trilogy stars Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia, Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, and Kenny Baker as R2-D2. They are joined by new actors to the franchise John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Crystal Clarke, Pip Andersen, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow.
