Last week it was confirmed that The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Iron Man scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, Pacific Rim 2‘s Zak Penn, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Lost“˜s Jeff Pinkner would be writing the scripts for various Transformers spinoffs as a part of the shared universe that Paramount was creating. The writers are essentially working as a story trust with all working on respective scripts while also providing creative input on other ones.

Now a new report says that Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari will be joining the staff. More on the story below.

Deadline was the first to report on the news. Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari are best known for doing the rewrites with Adam McKay and Paul Rudd on Ant-Man. According to the report, the working title of the first spinoff is Transformers One. The spinoff would reportedly center on the origins of the Transformers, and would most likely take place on Cybertron, the home planet of the warring Autobots and Decepticons. While Paramount has yet to comment on the matter, the site is confident that a film set on Cybertron will be the basis for the upcoming film.

It is said that Hasbro came up with the idea for the spinoff to be set on Cybertron, and that there is a possibility that the movie could be animated. However, the report stated that Barrer and Ferrari are going in with the expectation that they’re writing a live-action Transformers movie. So it sounds like nothing is set in stone.

The closest fans came to seeing Cybertron was during Dark of the Moon, but if the report is true, then Transformers One would be the first time we get the see the robotic planet up close and personal.

The goal is to have another Transformers sequel ready for Michael Bay once he completes his Benghazi movie 13 Hours. Once that goal is reached, the studio will then work on threading other sequels and spinoffs into a cohesive universe.
