Going to the theater during the summer can become fairly overwhelming with the release of multiple superhero blockbusters. These powerhouse movies tend to take the spotlight away from the modest, character-driven films that grace the screens; however, it looks like IFC Midnight has managed to find a compelling and unique way to incorporate the use of superpowers into a small-scale, powerful family drama with One & Two — and it looks very promising.
You can check out the trailer for One & Two here below.
Siblings Eva (Mad Men’s Kiernan Shipka) and Zac (Homeland’s Timothée Chalamet) live cut off from society in a remote farmhouse, their insular world bounded by an enormous wall. But as the pair begins exploring their extraordinary, potentially dangerous supernatural abilities, a mystery arises: is their father trying to keep the world out, or to keep his children in? This stunningly original science-fiction mind-bender is a surprising, thought-provoking look at the bonds that tie families together and the secrets that drive them apart.
One and Two stars Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men), Timothée Chalamet (Homeland), Grant Bowler (Defiance), Elizabeth Reaser (Twilight), and is directed by Andrew Droz Palermo. The film is set for theatrical release on August 15, 2015.
