It will be a few short weeks before we get to see our first look at Deadpool. We got our first look at the film during Comic-Con in early July, where we learned that this film will be an origins story for the Merc with the Mouth. The footage we saw revealed a terminally ill Wade Wilson undergoing a dangerous procedure that will turn him into the title hero Deadpool.
Reaction to the footage was overwhelmingly positive, with those in attendance asking to see it again. While leaks have occasionally appeared online, Fox has released three new images of our hero, both masked and unmasked, to hold you over until the trailer debuts. Check out the three new images below.
Now it is hard to get the comedic context out of these three images, but based on the red-band footage we saw at Comic-Con, and the cast’s description of the film, Deadpool will be an unfiltered rude fun, and just the kind of refreshing take on comic book adaptations that everyone has been waiting for.
The three images sees a pre-Deadpool Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) sharing a tender moment with his girlfriend Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), while another has the title hero walking alongside his sidekick Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand). The third image features Deadpool in a battle stance on the freeway that we have seen so many times.
Tim Miller directs Deadpool, using a script written by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The film also stars T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, and Ed Skrein.
Deadpool hits theaters on February 12, 2016.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds), who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
