In a world of sequels, spinoffs, reboots, reboots of reboots, and spinoffs of sequels, comes news that FOX has officially signed off on a 10-episode limited series Prison Break “bit of a sequel,” announced at the Television Critics Associations panel today. Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell are definitely in (a necessity of course).
And do not worry, my fellow DC/CW TV folks, this will in no way interfere with Miller and Purcell’s Legends of Tomorrow gig (we have been assured). Whew! I would have seriously boycotted if I did not get more Captain Cold and Heatwave next year. They originated these characters on The Flash, and I was delighted when I found out these two would be together again. That they will continue the story that made them stars is just icing.
Prison Break was the story of brothers, and the lengths they would go to for each other. Miller played engineer Michael Scofield, who gets himself thrown into prison so he can save his brother, Lincoln Burrows (Purcell), wrongly convicted of murder, from his death sentence. For four seasons, we followed their nail-biting escapes and captures. I expect this limited series will be great. How can anything with these two not be fantastic?
The 10-episode limited series of Prison Break will air in 2016 on FOX.
