FX has released another, longer video for The Bastard Executioner, with cast commentary in between the delicious little episode scenes (most likely from the pilot). Lee Jones (Wilkin Brattle – the Executioner), Katey Sagal (Annora of the Alders), Kurt Sutter (Creator and also playing The Dark Mute), Elen Rhys (Petra Brattle), and Stephen Moyer (Miles Corbett) all speak of the show in between scenes.
Watch that video and the brief “Tools of the Trade” teaser below.
Lee Jones explains his character, a former knight who “finds himself settling down and becoming a farmer.”
Says Sutter: “It was a highly rebellious period, a very dangerous period.”
You gotta watch for the rest of the cast’s two cents.
Just from watching it, my impression is that Timothy V. Murphy, who plays Father Ruskin, is an evil and powerful man (as I see all clergy of that time), who is the catalyst that drives Brattle from farmer to executioner. And something bad is definitely happening to his wife, that will probably make me cry. That is me just guessing. I initially thought that Moyer would be playing a wealthy, yet good man, but seeing him next to Murphy now makes me think he is evil too. This is all pure speculation, the fun part before an anticipated show begins.
The “Tools of the Trade” clip is quick, yet effective in its message. Almost makes one wonder: Did Dexter Morgan inherit his tools from Wilkin Brattle?
The Bastard Executioner strikes September 15th on FX.
