An Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off was announced back in April, but at that time, there was no word on when the new untitled Marvel show would premiere and then the series was eventually put on hold.
While there’s still no premiere date, reports are that ABC is readying to close a deal for a pilot for what is now dubbed Marvel’s Most Wanted.
In the new television series, Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood will reprise their respective Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. roles as Bobbi Morse aka Mockingbird and Lance Hunter, for the leads.
Previous reports on this Mockingbird-centered show were that these ex-spouses would share a secret plan involving Nick Fury’s toolbox that was unknown to the audience. At this time, no plot details have been confirmed, just that Most Wanted will follow Mockingbird and Hunter’s adventures together, according to Variety, which also stated that “Insiders say the series is not a spinoff, per se, but rather an entirely new project solely focused on the two characters to continue their story.” There’s also no inkling yet as to how the new series will be introduced; for instance, if it will be as a planted episode during S.H.I.E.L.D.
Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewski, who are producers on S.H.I.E.L.D., co-created Marvel’s Most Wanted for Marvel and ABC Studios and will be co-writing the pilot and acting as showrunners, as well as serving as exec producers along with Marvel’s head of television Jeph Loeb.
Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return to ABC for a third season, with Agent Carter starring Hayley Atwell returning as the title agent midseason for a Season 2. There’s also a secret project in development for a spinoff series with 12 Years A Slave writer John Ridley at the helm for ABC that reportedly reinvents an existing Marvel superhero character or property.
