I’ve literally seen every Screen Junkies Honest Trailer out there, and I have reviewed them here for months, but this is the first time I’ve cackled out loud with glee. It takes a franchise so overtly ridiculous to produce what is my favorite Honest Trailer of all time… Furious 7. Sorry Pacific Rim and Man of Steel, you’ve been replaced.
Check out the Honest Trailer below.
Narrator Jon Bailey doesn’t miss a bit tackling the 7th entry (!) in the Fast and Furious franchise that has the most complex series of titles ever including all possible mashups of F-words and numbers, before landing on the super boring Furious 7… so we insert the Japanese title, Wild Speed: Sky Mission. Everything you’ve ever thought about the series is brought up, from the fact that every movie is their final job with “one last ride” or how all the characters should be dead from the craziness of the stunts like jumping cars off cliffs, out of airplanes and from skyscraper to skyscraper. And what’s next? Space? Well the NEXT sequel is coming out in 2017.
Bailey sums up the whole franchise in its various forms, which started as “Point Break with cars” and became about heists, and now revenge and secret agents. But hey, at least there’s a booty montage! It sounds too easy; making fun of Vin Diesel‘s mumbling, the chronological order, The Rock flexing a cast off his massive arm”¦ but it all just works so well and had me rolling. He even assigns the cast members silly car-pun nicknames ending with… Vin Diesel. Yeah well his name is already a car-pun. New title – Car Wars: Episode VII. LOVE IT!
And yes, he does a nice tribute to Paul Walker, so don’t worry, you can probably grab a quick tear before the HT ends with 3 different hilarious endings. My favorite is number 3, Hootie and the Blowfish, drops mic, walks away.
