Kickstarter Spotlight: ‘P.T.’ Spiritual Successor ‘Allison Road’

Allison Road Header Image

Earlier this year we saw a prototype gameplay demo for a first-person survival horror game called Allison Road. The game was initially just a one-person project, but overwhelmingly positive response to the demo led to the creation of a small development team now officially called Lilith Ltd.

A large part of this excitement for the game is born out of the excitement that gamers once had for a little playable demo called P.T., which turned out to be a new Silent Hill game being made by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro with The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus appearing in the game. Unfortunately things didn’t work out with that game, but it opened a large door for smaller games like Allison Road to step up and be what those who were so excited about that game were so looking forward to playing.

Because the game and team making it are so small, they decided to take the crowdfunding route to achieving their goals, which makes all the sense in the world. You can read much more about the game and watch the Kickstarter campaign video below.

Here’s a bit of a table setting for the game:

And here’s some more information on where Lilith is going with it:

True Horror: Story Matters

We strongly believe that you can’t create a memorable and truly shocking horror experience without a well thought-out and deeply gripping narrative. We spent a very long time working out every aspect of the game narrative, and with your support we can make Allison Road the next big thing in survival horror. Every character in Allison Road has a disturbing history that ties seamlessly into the main narrative.

True Horror: Passion Matters

From the start Allison Road was a passion project. For the first 6 months Chris worked on the game alone, and then intentionally hand-picked his team from a wide and diverse entertainment industry background to form what is now known as Lilith. Fast forward another 6 months, Lilith is now a group of 10 people with vast high production value experience, who are used to delivering on AAA projects across the entertainment industry.

True Horror: The Old Games Matter

Allison Road is all about a feeling of intimacy and our biggest aim is to really deliver a sense of reality to your home screens. Through the use of high-end tech (including VR), disturbing gameplay and a compelling narrative, we aim to create a thoroughly engrossing experience. We have very fond memories playing games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill 2 and Dead Space. Slowly sneaking through the long zombie-infested hallways just waiting for the cerberus to burst through the window, James Sunderland’s perilous journey of self-discovery through Silent Hill in the search for his late wife, or Isaac Clarke’s nightmare trip through the dark corridors of the Ishimura. These days it seems that horror games are more about style over substance and little to no narrative, whereas we are going to return to the roots of true psychological horror. As you can see from our 1st playable video. We believe it is as much about what you can’t see, as it is about what you can see. This is about creating an intense audio/visual horror experience.

True Horror: Game Mechanics Matter

As the house creaks, watching over you, you must examine everything, check everything and learn from everything. Take your time as you gather clues, but remember to keep an eye on the clock, because as the night falls and the light fades, your nightmares will really begin. Stealth and exploration are your key survival skills as you explore this unfamiliar environment. Be careful not to attract any unwanted attention, because there is something in the dark, something outside, in the next room or behind the cupboard door. The aim is to make everything feel immediate, direct and most of all real.

True Horror: Sound Matters

There is no such thing as great horror without great sound. Allison Road is built with an understanding of the psychology of audio and will feature terrifying soundscapes created by our extremely talented composer Marco. The game will also feature deeply disturbing sound FX tailor-made by our own SFX specialist Jonas, which will fill every minute of Allison Road with tense atmosphere.

You can find out more information about the game, check out all of the awards available, and perhaps throw a little coin their way if interested in supporting the game over at its Kickstarter campaign page.
