Hugh Jackman ad Wolverine In X-Men: Days Of Future Past

Wolverine 3 is the final time that Hugh Jackman will play the title character and marks the end of Bryan Singer’s X-Men saga. Little is known about the film’s plot, the actor has teased a few ideas he would like to see in the hero’s sequel. Rumors of an Old Man Logan storyline have been circulating for quite a while, even Jackman seemed to hint at it at SDCC earlier this year. But nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

No other actors have been added to the cast yet, but it seems that Patrick Stewart‘s role in the sequel is bigger than originally thought. According to Jackman, Professor X may play a father figure role to Logan in the upcoming movie. Find out what he had to say about it in the story here below.

As Jackman was making the press rounds for Pan recently, he teased what we could possibly see in the next Wolverine. In an exclusive interview with Collider, the actor revealed that Stewart does factor into the film; also, he would like to see more of the father and son relationship the two shared that hasn’t been seen in any of the previous X-Men films,

“I’ll be really honest with you, the actual script in its full form we’re up to about Page 60. Obviously there’s a treatment, so it’s not fully done yet, we’re not fully there. Patrick does figure in it that’s for sure. I think it’s a really important relationship but I want to see signs of that quasi-father/son sort of relationship that has not been seen before, and sides of particularly Professor X that have not been seen before. So we have some really, really cool ideas.”

Wolverine has always been a central figure in the X-Men film franchise, and Professor X has been there alongside him to help him figure out his mysterious past. So the two have a deep bond. But to use Xavier as a father figure for this story makes more sense, as it will help establish him to be more than just another mutant in a X-Men film.

It’s not clear if they are going to follow through with using Old Man Logan as an inspiration for the film. The trouble with that is the comic book story arc uses many of the characters that are owned by Marvel/Disney. Hawkeye, Hulk, Red Skull all make an appearance in the eight-issue comic book series, making it difficult for Michael Green to adapt. However, if they can find a way to use mutants in place of those characters, then I see no problem with the final Wolverine 3 being based on Old Man Logan.

But the actor won’t officially start shooting until he signs off on the script, which has to meet his expectations. At this point he says that the outline is about 90 percent where he wants it to be, so there is hope that they could start shooting soon. As to where they will be shooting, that is unclear. But things like life, family, and other personal matters factor into that final decision.

As to when the film could begin shooting, that is also a bit unclear. Last year, director James Mangold said that production could begin after X-Men: Apocalypse. In the same interview, Jackman’s answer seems to coincide with Mangold’s expectation, adding that he knows how he wants Wolverine’s story to end.
