After scoring Mad Max: Fury Road, which is considered one of best action films of the summer, maybe even the decade, Junkie XL has found a new project that will surely give everyone an adrenaline rush.
The composer recently confirmed that he would be scoring Deadpool starring Ryan Reynolds as the title character aka the Merc with a Mouth. Check out the confirmation below.
Here’s what Junkie XL, whose real name is Tom Holkenborg, had to say about the new gig:
Since he is starting Monday, one has to assume that a majority of the film is complete. There are of course VFX shots that may need some additional cleaning and some ADR added, but for the most part it sounds like they have a very rough cut of the film.
In addition to Mad Max: Fury Road the Dutch composer has also worked on 300: Rise of an Empire, Run All Night, Divergent, and the recently released Black Mass starring Johnny Depp. He will also be working with Hans Zimmer on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which will be their fifth collaboration following The Dark Knight Rises, Megamind, Inception, and Madagascar 3.
It should be interesting to see what Junkie XL comes up with, especially since we got a sense of Deadpool’s musical taste in the trailer – DMX’s “X Gon’ Give It To Ya” and Salt-N-Peppa’s “Shoop” were played. So maybe the composer will give us something with a hip-hop vibe.
Tim Miller directs Deadpool using a script written by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The film also stars Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, and Ed Skrein.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
