Last time on The Last Man On Earth, crickets were on the menu. Gross! Melissa (January Jones) cut herself on a can, and perpetually drunk Gail (Mary Steenburgen) tried to doctor it. Carol (Kristen Schaal) and Erica (Cleopatra Coleman) finally band together in sisterhood, not letting Phil #1’s (Boris Kodjoe) crush on Carol ruin their friendship. The bacon is out of the bag. Tandy (Will Forte) tries to take the rap for Todd (Mel Rodriguez), cementing their friendship. They both end up happily in the stocks.
Some spoilers below.
The Last Man On Earth 2.6 “A Real Live Wire” recap/review: It’s a literal live wire. The Malibu residents make poor decisions. Surprise! Phil #1 gets fed up about fixing stuff, and goes on strike. He has a real point about Malibu not being a survival town. That leaves Tandy and Todd left to do the fixing. Tandy decides on solar power. You can imagine how that turned out – hence the title of the episode.
Tandy and Phil have it out about Carol. And finally! Tandy is not on the bad side of things. Phil punches him in the face. There’s a wonderful little scene of everyone defending and insulting Tandy at the same time.
Babies are on the minds of the gang. At least NOT having babies is what most of them want to do. That bums out Carol who does not want her future baby to be lonely. But she should listen to her own pros and cons list. I, for one, would mourn the lack of Sesame Street.
You don’t usually expect shockers in a 1/2 hour comedy, but the last 5 minutes of this episode were like, “What?!?!?!”
Good episode. Tandy was his Tandy self, pretending to know about gas expiration while Phil was explaining it, fooling no one. But he did get to be NOT the worst this episode, which is rare. And Phil just refusing to go in the punishment stocks made me a little nervous. What could they do to force him? A lot of nothing.
A question I have is… are there no books in Malibu? What’s up with reading magazines?
I also think that they should move back to Tucson so Jason Sudeikis can find them.
The Last Man On Earth airs Sundays at 9:30pm ET on FOX.
