French metal juggernaut Gojira is gearing up for the release of its long-awaited new album and has just dropped the news that it’s coming sooner than we had expected. At the end of a “Studio Sessions” teaser video posted to the band’s Facebook page, which you can see below, the words “New Album Spring 2016” appear, meaning that the band is apparently much further along in the process than had been previously hinted at.
This is excellent news for all of us Gojira fanatics who have been waiting nearly 4 years since the release of the band’s most recent record L’Enfant Sauvage in 2012. That record sold over 11,000 copies in its first week of release in the U.S. alone and would cement the band’s status as one of the most important bands in the modern metal scene.
In between extensive dates in support of L’Enfant Sauvage, the band built their own recording studio in New York City and have been working sporadically on the follow up. Many fans were just waiting with bated breath, hoping the album would see the light of day this year. So the announcement of a spring release has put a smile on the faces of a lot of metalheads, myself included.
No title has been announced yet and very little info is available at this time. Even “Spring 2016” is sort of vague, but promising. We here at GoD will keep you apprised of any new developments on that front. While we wait, check out the teaser video here and try not to get all schoolgirl giddy like I did.

This new album is going to put them on top of the hill with not a single heavy band ever having a prayer to be close. This is the most important heavy band in the world right now…end of story.
