Starz released a 2-minute sneak peek of Outlander Season 2, set to return in April, and it’s a very different setting than what we are used to. Claire and Jaime Fraser (Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan) had set sail from Scotland, having escaped (with mental and physical scars), the horrors or prison and Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies). The Frasers are expecting a “bonny wee one” and things are looking up.

Ah, but to know the future is a curse. Claire knows the ending to the Jacobite rebellion and the Culloden massacre, and she cannot sit and do nothing. “We can infiltrate the Jacobite movement. We have to stop it.”

Based on Diana Galbadon’s 2nd novel in the Outlander series, Dragonfly in Amber, the Fraser saga takes us to 18th Century France and the intrigues of the Court of Louis XV. The sets and costumes look gorgeous, matching the beautiful couple, reminiscent of The Tudors. But the video shows (and the readers know) that the fake life they are leading will lead to strife in their marriage. Plus… we haven’t heard the last of Black Jack Randall (or Frank Randall for that matter). The ghost of Claire’s 1st husband (or future 2nd husband? You know what I mean), comes between the couple this season.

The ending of Dragonfly in Amber was sooo good! I cannot wait to see Heughan and Balfe pull it off!
