DC’s Legends of Tomorrow premiered this evening, and it was as fun as everyone thought it would be. The premise is a geek dream – a motley assortment of villainous heroes, heroic villains, and heroic heroes assembled to travel through time to defeat Vandal Savage (Casper Crump), immortal world dictator. LoT blends Captain Cold, Heat Wave, Hawkgirl, Hawkman, and Firestorm (Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, Ciara Renee, Falk Hentschel, Victor Garber & Franz Drameh from The Flash, with White Canary and Ray Palmer aka The Atom (Caity Lotz and Brandon Routh) from Arrow, pulled together by the captain of the timeship, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill).

Legends Of Tomorrow 1.1 “Pilot, Part 1” review: The opening speaks of Savage. “He has conquered the entire planet.” The initial scene shows a fierce battle. And then he lovingly kills a child named Jonas.

Hunter is pleading with the Timemasters to go after Savage and save the future. He wants to assemble a team and asks Gideon to take him to Star City in the year 2016. Gideon. It’s Gideon! Where does he grab them?

Raymond Palmer: grabs him from a battle at H.I.V.E. He was there helping The Green Arrow (Stephen Amell).

On to Tibet, where he lasers Sara Lance in the middle of drinking and fighting.

Firestorm is chasing a bad guy. They separate and get kidnapped.

Hawkman & Hawkgirl are bickering.

Captain Cold & Heat Wave are in the middle of crime, of course.

They all wake up, confused – more at being together, because many of them have crossed paths, but also at being abducted. He shows them the fate of the world if they don’t help, with the coolest projector ever.

“If your answer is yes, meet me at this address in 36 hours.”

What do they decide?

Ray goes to Oliver for advice. He feels he has to take it. You’d think though that first he would want to create super technology to fix Felicity’s paralysis problem, but I nitpick.

Hawkman is trying to convince Hawkgirl not to run away from this. “The woman I’ve loved for millenia wouldn’t…” They fight for the decision.

Sara spars with Laurel, who is supportive. “Be the white canary. She doesn’t need a mask. She’s lived in the shadows long enough.”

My boys are in to steal even more.

Jax doesn’t want to go. So Stein drugs him.

They get on board and go to 1975 to visit a professor who’s made it his life’s mission to study Vandal Savage and the Hawks. The reason? He is their son.

Cold, Heat, and Canary are left because they “don’t need anyone killed, maimed, or robbed.” Jax doesn’t want to go. So those three go to a bar. The BEST scene in the history of scenes is the bar fight! You’ll see. These 3 are gonna be so much fun.

I love the 70s!

They all go back to the ship and there’s a bounty hunter!

Captain Cold: “We go out for one lousy drink and you guys manage to pick a fight with Boba Fett.”

And woops! LoT got us! They are not the “legends” of the trailers of the last year. HOW did they keep THAT a secret?!?! He chose them because they don’t matter in the future. And the mission is not sanctioned.

So they all have another choice. And since this is a new series, they all choose to stay. It is Sara who convinces Ray, Heat, an Cold. Jax likes being part of a team and that’s why Firestorm stays. The Hawks just lost their middle-aged son, so they want to bring Savage down.

I just have to say that Wentworth Miller’s face is a show. The most fun was when the camera would pan to his reaction of stuff. And Purcell’s grunty comments are hilarious. They are already my favorite part.

Savage is in Norway in 1975. Can’t wait to see where the time travel takes them! Endless possibilities. “Great Scott!”

Now… I know this show has built-in character connections, and doesn’t need much exposition because of the built-in Arrow and Flash backstories, but it really was as fun and wonderful as I thought it would be. I have been looking forward to this for months and it did not disappoint.

As the world crumbles, the Time Master Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) takes matters into his own hands; he travels 150 years into the past to assemble a carefully selected team of heroes and rogues, who together will be”¦ Legends.

Hunter has chosen what seems like an ill-matched group: billionaire inventor Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), who has created an exo-suit with the power to shrink him to miniscule size, as the Atom; Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), the White Canary, a trained assassin; Professor Martin Stein (Victor Garber) and Jefferson “Jax” Jackson (Franz Drameh), who together form the meta-human Firestorm; Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller), known as Captain Cold, and his partner Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell), aka Heat Wave, a pair of career criminals; and Kendra Saunders (Ciara Renée) and Carter Hall (Falk Hentschel), who are really Hawkgirl and Hawkman, two souls who have been reincarnated many times, and who possess the ability to fly”¦ and have a spiritual connection to Vandal Savage.

Convinced by Hunter to join him in the fight to defeat Savage, the group travels back and forth through time to try to stop Savage’s plans from being set into motion, while Hunter struggles to keep to his duty as a Time Master and avoid irreparable damage to the timeline of history. The fate of the world is in the hands of this unlikely team, and the battle to save the earth will be legendary.
