The 88th Annual Academy Awards ceremony was broadcasted live on ABC on Sunday night, February 28, 2016, from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, CA, with Chris Rock as the host.

The song didn’t win for Best Original Song though – that went to Sam Smith’s “Writing’s on the Wall” from the James Bond film Spectre.
Ennio Morricone Wins Best Original Score
Legendary composer Ennio Morricone won the Best Original Score for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight.
Alejandro G. Iñárritu Wins Best Director
Alejandro González Iñárritu wins Best Director for The Revenant, and refuses to be pushed off-stage by the music during his rousing acceptance speech.
Leonardo DiCaprio FINALLY Wins an Oscar
This was the most talked about award of the season — Would Leo FINALLY get his Oscar after so many nominations? He was up against a lot of great performances this year, but this time around, after 6 times, it was all for him. Good for you, Leo!!!
AND, he used his speech time to say CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL!!!!
Best Picture Winner is…
Umm, say what? Did anyone see this coming? Nope, no one. Not one person. Chalk it up to the shocker of the night. I’m just glad it was this and not a loss for Leo because I don’t think I could have handled anymore Sad Leo Oscar memes.
