Like it or not, we are going to get yet another installment in the Transformers franchise. The films have been a rather lucrative hit for Paramount, so it’s easy to see why the studio may want to continue to breathe life into it. However, with Michael Bay saying that the latest movie would be his last as a director, Transformers 5 would need to start shooting soon so that it can meet its summer 2017 release.
Now, the franchise’s official Instagram has confirmed that the film will indeed start lensing very soon and have even revealed the new subtitle for the fourth sequel. Check out what it is below.
Stare deep into the purple eyes of Optimus Prime in the Instagram post to find out what that title is.
So as you can see the official title for Michael Bay’s Transformers 5 will be Transformers: The Last Knight. As the teaser also announces, production is set to begin in June. Of course, that just gives Bay a little over a year to work on the film as it is currently set for a June 23, 2017 release.
As you can see, the title card is a bit different from previous ones which were more shiny and chrome. Here The Last Knight is a bit more blocky and less refined, lacking the smooth and sleek look that the first four had. The surface of which looks more like something you would see on Cyberton, which seemed like where Optimus Prime was heading to after the events of Age of Extinction. If you recall, Cyberton was one of the many spinoffs that was pitched when Paramount assembled 12 writers to build and expand the franchise last summer.
This isn’t exactly the first time we’ve seen Optimus Prime wielding a sword, as the Autobot leader slain many Decepticons with it in the last film. While being a Prime is honorable, it hasn’t necessarily reflected that in the previous films. One can only hope that The Last Knight will be better. Then again, Bay has directed all four of the live-action films, so why should he change anything. If it ain’t broke, right?
The film’s profile also tells us that you can turn to it for first looks, behind-the-scenes, and more.
We’ve also got a screengrab of the title card here.
