Now that Daniel Craig doesn’t seem to be the least bit interested in reprising his role as James Bond, Eon Productions and producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are now combing through a list of actors to take the title of 007. As you can imagine, choosing an actor to play such a role is very delicate. But one of the frontrunners named, by the fans, was Tom Hiddleston. If he did join, he join a long list of actors to play James Bond ranging starting from Sean Connery, then moving onto David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and most recently Craig.
Craig, recently turned down a $100,000,000 offer to reprise James Bond for a final 2-picture deal, and with that it mind, it seems that despite a few denials, a new rumor has popped up saying Hiddleston’s name has reemerged to the forefront.
More on the story below.
The news was first posted exclusively by Birth. Movies. Death, who says that sources close to Hiddleston’s camp tells them that the actor has indeed entered talks to play James Bond. Now the site is no ordinary site that runs rumors just to get hits, but we should caution that without any confirmation from Eon Productions and/or Hiddleston, we should take the news with a grain of salt.
Given that Craig has openly spoken about how these Bond films have made him miserable, maybe a new actor is what the franchise needs. Connery has also shared similar sentiments of how the character made him unhappy. But with Hiddleston, it should hopefully be different. The actor has played Loki over the course of three Marvel films, soon to be four, and maybe even more. That kind of experience would obviously carry over as he can learn to embrace playing a character over the course of multiple films instead of getting bored of it like Craig or Connery has.
But just because Hiddleston has entered talks doesn’t mean that he is a lock to play the character. As the site points out, Eon might be talking to other actors they are considering. While it’s not clear who those actors might be, the production company has a track record of casting unknowns (like Craig at the time) or household names (like Brosnan). Remember, Hiddleston was a virtual unknown before he was cast as Loki, and now, thanks to that role, his stardom has launched and taken him to a place where he is being handed offers. However, these talks could also be just a ruse to coerce Craig into accepting that nice hefty $100,000,000 paycheck.
Should this happen, one would find it hard to argue against the case of Hiddleston making James Bond. He’s got the look. He’s got the charm and swagger. He recently proved that he can be a very unpredictable and dangerous spy in the six-episode miniseries The Night Manager. High-Rise also proved he can play deliciously dark characters.
So let’s just wait and see what happens. We could get someone fresh and new or more of Craig’s misery. One thing is for sure, we will keep you posted on who gets the job.

I think one of my favorite ideas being thrown around for James Bond right now is introducing a female version.
