To whet the appetite for this Sunday’s season 1 finale of Preacher, AMC released the first five minutes of the episode. To bring you up to speed, Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) has a powerful half angel/half demon hellspawn called Genesis inside him. He made perhaps the biggest promise in recorded history… promising God himself will show up in church on Sunday in Annville, Texas. If God doesn’t show, he is forced to publicly denounce the Lord and sign over his church to meat packing magnate, cult leader and psycho killer Odin Quincannon (Jackie Earle Haley). If that wasn’t enough pressure, a legit Cowboy from Hell (Graham McTavish) has been commissioned to kill him by renegade angels Fiore (Tom Brooke) and DeBlanc (Anatol Yusef).
Check out the first 5-minutes below.
We are 17 hours 22 minutes from God, and Annville residents are getting excited. In other news, “local freak” Eugene aka Arseface (Ian Colletti) is still missing, and Jesse is on the run from the law. Right on time for God’s arrival, Tulip (Ruth Negga) returns from dealing with Carlos in Albuquerque. She goes looking for Jesse and finds him in the most unlikely of places, calmly showering at Donnie’s (Derek Wilson). Meanwhile, Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) is lying in a prison cell and an angry Sheriff (W. Earl Brown) wants to know where “he” is. The “he” is not Preacher, but rather Eugene, his son. And he seems ready to get what he wants out of Cassidy by any means necessary…
I cannot wait for Sunday night! Will God show up in Annville? How will Jesse deal with an angry sheriff, a killer from Hell, a crazy ex-girlfriend, and a psychopath like Quincannon? So many questions, and only one more episode to answer them all. The season 1 finale, “Call and Response” premieres Sunday night at 9:00pm ET on AMC.
