Those who have been keeping up with the marketing campaign for Logan, the final Wolverine solo movie starring Hugh Jackman, have been getting very small lessons in black and white photography. Most of what we’ve seen so far have been black and white images posted on social media either through the cast’s accounts or on director James Mangold‘s account. The latter offers the ISO count and the shutter speeds used to take the photos.
While most of these have been looks at the supporting cast, we haven’t had a really good look at how Logan himself will look, aside from the scarred hand that was seen in the teaser poster. Now a new image has popped up online giving us an idea of how old Logan will be in the film and how his powers may be deteriorating in the process. Check it out below.
The image comes to us from Mangold, who posted it on his official Twitter account.
As you can see, the director tweets out lighting and shutter speed details used to take this black-and-white photo of Jackman as the title character. So while it may not look like a still or something from the set, the photo does give us an idea of just how desolate the future is for Logan.
This is definitely the most grizzled version of the character when compared to the other times we’ve seen him. Not only is he old, but there are a few battle scars, clear signs that he’s been fighting for as long as he has been alive. Despite the fact that his powers are not working properly, he hasn’t given up the fight. Particularly when it comes to defending the young child against Donald Pierce and his Reavers.
The lighting of this grizzled Logan reinforces the notion that the film will be a dark and gritty superhero flick with hints of the western genre.
It has certainly been an interesting marketing campaign for Logan. So far most of the promotions have come from social media. But we have yet to see an official still or even a trailer for the film. Thankfully Jackman shared this brief video confirming that a first trailer will be arriving tomorrow:
Stephen Merchant, Richard E. Grant, and Elizabeth Rodriguez also star.
Logan opens in theaters on March 3, 2016.
