| ‘Logan’s Dark Tone Worried 20th Century Fox Execs
At some point, the X-Men franchise needed to take a gamble. On the surface, Deadpool was risky. But the film turned out to be such a huge success, it gave Twentieth Century Fox the confidence they needed to approve of James Mangold‘s Logan, the first R-rated Wolverine film to be released theatrically. Releasing a third installment of the Wolverine franchise was always a part of the studio’s plan. So in order to give Hugh Jackman a proper send-off, Mangold wanted the film to be deeply personal. Based on what we have seen throughout the marketing campaign, it looks like he accomplished that goal. But that isn’t to say that the new direction didn’t worry studio execs. In fact, some were concerned about the film’s tonal shift. More on the story below.

| Hugh Jackman Explains Why ‘Logan’ Is In A “Slightly Different Universe”
It’s hard enough to figure out the X-Men film continuity without factoring in the First Class trilogy, and its attempt to reset the timeline with Days of Future Past. But with spinoffs like Wolverine and Deadpool existing within the same universe, the filmmakers have to be conscious of the events of other films. That may hinder the creative process for some, but for James Mangold‘s Logan, he is sidestepping all of that, so to speak, by creating an alternate timeline. While that may be confusing to some, Hugh Jackman believes Mangold had a very good reason for making that decision. Check out what the both of them had to say below.

| ‘Logan’ Photo Reveals Hugh Jackman As An Old Wolverine
Those who have been keeping up with the marketing campaign for Logan, the final Wolverine solo movie starring Hugh Jackman, have been getting very small lessons in black and white photography. Most of what we’ve seen so far have been black and white images posted on social media either through the cast’s accounts or on director James Mangold‘s account. The latter offers the ISO count and the shutter speeds used to take the photos. While most of these have been looks at the supporting cast, we haven’t had a really good look at how Logan himself will look, aside from the scarred hand that was seen in the teaser poster. Now a new image has popped up online giving us an idea of how old Logan will be in the film and how his powers may be deteriorating in the process. Check it out below.
