Warner Bros. has released the second trailer for Patty Jenkins‘ Wonder Woman. Gal Gadot reprises her role as Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman, who ventures out into the world of man to help Steven Trevor (Chris Pine) end the war to end all wars.

Check out the full trailer below.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a superhero film set during a major World War, but given when Wonder Woman actually made her comic debut, it seems fitting to make her origins story a period piece. And perhaps that is what made Captain America: The First Avenger so appealing. It was the fact that they could weave history into the story of a rising superhero. But here we have Wonder Woman, an outsider who has no idea of the dangers of what lurks beyond the shores of her world.

This would be one of the first major superhero movies to feature a female lead, so it’s safe to say that everyone’s expectations are pretty high. However, because she was the best part of am otherwise mediocre Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, we can take comfort in knowing that she does not have to share any screen time with heroes we have already seen for the past few decades.

While we see some of those superhero elements in the film, it’s still not clear as to how it connects to the overall DCEU. Though there have been some rumors that the Themyscira is one of the three nations that received a mother box, which will eventually play a pivotal role in the upcoming Justice League.

The film also stars Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, the WWI American pilot who crash lands on Themyscira and assists her on her journey to being a superhero. Connie Nelsen plays her mother Queen Hippolyta, with Robin Wright playing as General Antiope, Wonder Woman’s aunt and the person who trains her.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for the film.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers”¦and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman opens in theaters on June 2nd, 2017.
