We’d better start appreciating the Planet of the Apes films, because all good things come to an end. And if the franchise keeps going in the direction it’s in, then I don’t want another reboot to happen. The first trailer for War for the Planet of the Apes has finally arrived, and it does more than just tease the inevitable war between man and ape, it brings us straight to the battlefront.
Check out the first trailer for the film here below.
In the first teaser, we heard Caesar (Andy Serkis) say in a cold tone that war was coming and that he was sorry. That means that there is more than one conflict going on. Not only is he fighting a war against the humans, but also the apes that support the conflict. Caesar has always tried to be a peacemaker, but will defend ape-kind. Now conflict with the humans has reached its peak, and he must lead his faction against those who threaten it.
Directed by Matt Reeves, who also co-wrote the script with Mark Bomback, War for the Planet of the Apes also stars Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Gabriel Chavarria, and Judy Greer. It is scheduled to open in theaters on July 14, 2017.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.
