As far as reboot-sequel hybrids go, David Gordon Green‘s Halloween is one of the best. The 2018 film paid respect to its 1978 predecessor by relying on familiar themes and tones original fans would recognize while also introducing its iconic horror figure, Michael Myers, to a new and much younger audience. Raking in $253.7 million at the box office last year, there was no doubt that a sequel was in order. Now that one has been confirmed, the creative pieces are being put together.

New reports confirm that Firestarter writer Scott Teems has been hired to pen the script for the upcoming Halloween sequel. More on the report below.

HalloweenOr, two senior citizens magically find their way back to each other after 40 long years apart

They did it! They made Michael Myers scary again! In 1978, John Carpenter created Michael Myers, a boogeyman who killed babysitters before disappearing into the night after taking 6 bullets fired by his doctor. The franchise has since given us nine sequels, a reboot, and four convoluted timelines. All the mythos and fear from one of the faces on the Mount Rushmore of horror were essentially gone. And then came the guys from Pineapple Express! David Gordon Green and Danny McBride led the charge and with Jason Blum of Blumhouse on board producing, they crafted a Halloween film that pays loving homage to the original, winks at all the fans, and creates a new and worthy sequel that is, again above everything else, scary.

Kidding

When it comes to one-shot takes on television, it’s hard to top that famous scene from HBO’s True Detective. But the new Showtime series Kidding, which was just given a season two, delivered an impressive one recently that really has to be seen if you haven’t already.

The scene shows a woman (played by Riki Lindhome) transforming her life over an extended period of time after being inspired by the show within Kidding, “Mr. Pickles’ Puppet Time,” which is hosted by star Jim Carrey. The shot, which runs a little under two minutes, all takes place in a small apartment with the camera panning around as we see her life changing. It’s awesome to see on its own, but becomes truly incredible when you see how they pulled it off. As the camera pans the room the crew quickly moves in behind it to change the set, while actors move in and out including Lindhome, who also has multiple wardrobe changes to pull off while making her way to each next shot she’s in. You can see how it went in the video below, which shows the scene next to the cast and crew pulling it off.

Ant-Man And The Wasp is Marvel Studios’ 20th film. Based on the heroes of the same name, director Peyton Reed‘s hilarious sequel finds Scott Lang, who is under house arrest after colluding with Captain America in Captain America: Civil War, in a position where he has to balance out his life as a superhero with his life as a father.

As with the previous Ant-Man film, the sequel takes place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but is a film with contained story that only concerns itself with its own characters and their relationships. The only links to the MCU is that it acknowledges what Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) did in Germany and how he and everyone associated with him, including Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) are paying the price.
