Ant-Man And The Wasp is Marvel Studios’ 20th film. Based on the heroes of the same name, director Peyton Reed’s hilarious sequel finds Scott Lang, who is under house arrest after colluding with Captain America in Captain America: Civil War, in a position where he has to balance out his life as a superhero with his life as a father.
As with the previous Ant-Man film, the sequel takes place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but is a film with contained story that only concerns itself with its own characters and their relationships. The only links to the MCU is that it acknowledges what Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) did in Germany and how he and everyone associated with him, including Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) are paying the price.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in a very interesting place right now. There is no doubt the fallout of the Avengers: Infinity War left some very deep emotional scars for fans and non-fans alike. That film took some pretty bold risks. And it paid off. Now the studio who placed their success on B-list heroes and relative unknowns can afford to make a few more gambles. Most of which will pay off anyway given the studio’s history. So it should come as no surprise that Ant-Man and the Wasp is yet another solid Marvel Studios film.
The sequel doubles down on the shrinking and growing abilities and integrates those elements into the innovative action sequences to deliver a visual feast that is big on excitement. Check out my full review below.

Roots
Night 4
Directed by Bruce Beresford
Written by Lawrence Konner
Based on the novel by Alex Haley
Starring Laurence Fishburne, Regé-Jean Page, Anika Noni Rose, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Mekhi Phifer, T.I., Erica Tazel, Anna Paquin, Sedale Threatt Jr., and Malachi Kirby

Air Date: Thursday, June 2nd, 2016, 9:00pm
The past 3 nights, A&E, The History Channel, and Lifetime have simultaneously aired the first 3 parts of the “Groundbreaking Series Reimagined” – Roots, based on Alex Haley’s 1976 novel. The original 1977 series starring Levar Burton and John Amos as warrior turned slave (but a warrior forever in his heart), Kunta Kinte, followed him and his generations of family through the brutal history of America. This week we cried and cringed and laughed and raged with these strong characters and brilliant actors. On Night 1, we met Kunta Kinte (Malachi Kirby) ripped away from his happy life in Africa, to be whipped and chained as a slave in America, always trying to escape. On Night 2, Kunta loses half a foot for running, and settles down with his wife Belle (Emayatzy Corinealdi) and his daughter Kizzy (E’myri Lee Crutchfield), teaching her the ways of a warrior. Kizzy is sold to another, ripped from her parents loving arms. Night 3 was the story of Kizzy (Anika Noni Rose) and her son George (Regé-Jean Page), product from a rape by her new owner, Tom Lea (Jonathan Rhys Myers). As much as George tried to gain Tom’s approval and love, in the end Tom sold him for a debt, and George was ripped away from his wife, babies, and mother.

RELEASE DATE: December 8, 2015
Marvel’s Ant-Man takes a comedic page from its Marvel Cinematic Universe counterpart Guardians Of The Galaxy, and delivers a superhero story that’s appealing to all audiences, even those not interested in capes and cowls.
Paul Rudd stars as Scott Lang, a master thief who’s just finished a three-year stint in San Quentin prison. While his crime was more of the Robin Hood variety, his criminal record is making it very difficult for him to keep a job and make ends meet on the straight and narrow path. Motivated by his desire to be there for his young daughter’s life, Scott joins forces with former prison buddy Luis (Michael Peña) and his crew (Tip “T.I.” Harris, David Dastmalchian) for a sure-thing burglary job. Unbeknownst to Scott, the safe he’s cracking belongs to Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), the S.H.I.E.L.D. scientist who developed the shrinking technology that powers the Ant-Man suit.
