Halloween Movie Header Image

As far as reboot-sequel hybrids go, David Gordon Green‘s Halloween is one of the best. The 2018 film paid respect to its 1978 predecessor by relying on familiar themes and tones original fans would recognize while also introducing its iconic horror figure, Michael Myers, to a new and much younger audience. Raking in $253.7 million at the box office last year, there was no doubt that a sequel was in order. Now that one has been confirmed, the creative pieces are being put together.

New reports confirm that Firestarter writer Scott Teems has been hired to pen the script for the upcoming Halloween sequel. More on the report below.

Scream Factory

Among the great companies out there releasing vintage horror, sci-fi, action, fantasy, and cult films on high-quality Blu-rays and DVDs, Shout! Factory is by far the best in the business. In recent years they’ve put out some fantastic box sets of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and given many of the finest B-movies produced by Roger Corman a much-deserved digital makeover, and nearly all of those releases were packed with terrific bonus features. The company’s dedication to giving the films and television programs in their catalog top-notch treatment has earned them accolades from critics and fans and fine sales figures.

Shout! Factor has just announced the creation of Scream Factory, a new label that will specialize in releasing classic horror and science-fiction cinema from the 1970s and 80s on Blu-ray and DVD. Many of their titles will be making their debut in high-definition and each will be presented in brand new anamorphic widescreen transfers, with select titles receiving the full Collector’s Edition treatment.

The Scream Factory line will launch this Fall with the release of the first two sequels to John Carpenter‘s horror classic HalloweenHalloween II and Halloween III: Season of the Witch. You can check out the Blu-ray cover art and bonus features lists for both movies here below.

Halloweekend Banner

It’s that time of year again, boys and girls! The temperature has dropped, the leaves have turned from green to varying shades of orange and red; children dress in the guise of their favorite characters, and the flickering of candles show the yellow grins of the jack-o-lanterns adorning the porches of your neighborhood. It’s Halloween, folks, and while there’s plenty of people out there that like cute, plastic pumpkins on their doors, we here at Geeks of Doom like our Halloweens a little more horrifying. So, it’s with this, Halloweekend, that I will be bringing to you a series of horror-themed features that showcase the wicked side of geek entertainment.

In the second installment of what I like to call the Halloweekend of Doom, I will be exploring 13 films that will completely fill your Halloween. Don’t want to stop watching horror movies all day? Halloween

Bob Weinstein, head of The Weinstein Company with his brother Harvey, has announced to the LA Times that they are already developing a third chapter in the re-booted Halloween franchise, that they will be calling Halloween 3-D — a loving tip o’ the cap to ’80s horror threequels.

Shock rocker turned film maker Rob Zombie directed the first two movies in the resurrected franchise, but decided a while back that Halloween II (which opened this weekend) would be his last work in this world. Not to waste any time at all, the Weinsteins say that they already have another director lined up and in-negotiations, who does have experience with horror movies, and has an entirely new vision for Michael Myers — which means this may already be an whole new reboot within the reboot.
