Spoilers for Scream Queens

You gotta love any show that names an episode “Lovin the D.” Last week, things got way too kinky as Jamie Lee Curtis directed her first episode of the show, and her Cathy Munsch quickly became the subject of a love triangle as Wes Gardner (Oliver Hudson) returned and swept her off her feet, which caused huge jealousy for Dr. Holt (John Stamos). It was later revealed that he is also one of the Green Meanie killers since his daughter Grace went nuts after season 1. He left Chamberlain (James Earl) a bloody mess. That gives us Wes, Ingrid Hoffel (Kirstie Alley), the hospital admin out for revenge against the Chanels, and Dr. Cassidy Cascade (Taylor Lautner), the baby in the belly from the premiere as our three (so far) killers. Of course Hester Lea Michele) is still roaming the hospital and she was the killer from season 1. And technically Chanel (Emma Roberts) killed Hoffel’s sister at Kappa house… and Holt has a the hand of a serial killer… and Munsch definitely murdered her husband last season… jeez man, who isn’t a killer on this show!

Hoffel has the Chanels pulling the night shift. #3 (Billie Lourd) ponders why Zayday (Keke Palmer) doesn’t have to work. #5 (Abigail Breslin) says she hasn’t slept in her bed for two nights prompting #3’s epic deadpan response, “Wait, Zayday lives with us?” Of course, it’s a trap and all three Meanies attack, leading to a hilarious Scooby Doo-esque chase sequence. #3 looks done for, but the Team Jacob Meanie saves her and soon all three somehow escape as the Meanies argue. Out of nowhere, Hester appears and calls a Green Meanie summit.

The Chanels are all excited about their favorite show, “Lovin the D” (the D stands for doctor) with host Dr. Scarlett Lovin (Brooke Shields), and go into total freak out mode when Lovin shows up at the CURE Institute to get them and Holt to perform a live surgery on the air. Of course, not being actual med students poses a legal issue, so the Chanels agree to take the MCATs. In one of the truly best moments of the entire two seasons, Hester holds court on the Green Meanie summit where we find out game show style who each Meanie has killed, and how the remaining survivors are divided up for, as Hester says, “Murrrrderrrrr.” This scene… pardon the pun… KILLED it!

The girls sit for the MCATs and to the shock of everyone, they all pass, especially # 5 who got a high score without cheating and no one cares that she’s a genius, of course. #3 and Cascade try to win over his psychotic mother who’s pulling his strings. But Jane (Trilby Glover) wins that, and now it appears #3 is back on the chopping block. Back to the hospital for the big TV surgery, and Dr. Lovin drinks some poison coffee and now the Chanels and Holt have to do “Lovin the D” without the D. Holt performs a disgusting and risky surgery, but the Chanels steal the show, and then are literally offered to steal the show and become the hostesses of “Lovin the D.”

The Meanie summit proved a failure, and Cascade and Hoffel turn on Wes leaving two Meanies left. His body is left out to sucker everyone into thinking the killer is dead. Munsch faints upon finding the body, and it’s finally revealed that she is dying of an incurable disease, and will be dead in a month… good thing she founded the CURE Institute!

This was a great bounce back episode as we got some hilarious moments with almost the entire cast. I loved the entire cast’s combined non-reaction to Zayday missing, and no disrespect to Keke Palmer who is good in the role, but that character is the least intriguing on the show, so it’s just openly funny that even the characters in the show don’t notice when she’s gone. The Green Meanie summit was awesome, and Lea Michele steals the show whenever she’s on screen. My favorite remains #3 and Billie Lourd continues to deliver the best deadpan in TV history. Next week is the “explosive” finale and there are still plenty of bad guys left to weed out the cast. Zayday is trapped by Jane, the Chanels are surrounded by killers, something has to give, and someone has to go. Please, anyone but #3.

The second season finale of Scream Queens in next Tuesday at 9:00pm ET only on FOX.
