The next installment of the Chronicles of Narnia movie franchise, titled The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair, has found a director. Joe Johnston, who directed Captain America: The First Avenger for Marvel, Jumanji, and much more, has signed on to the project.

The sequel is the first in the series in the better part of a decade. The last entry was The Voyage of the Dawn Treader back in 2010. Before that was Prince Caspian in 2008, and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in 2005.

The movie is once again based on the works of author C.S. Lewis, and will take place after the events of Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Financing is TriStar, the Mark Gordon Company, and Entertainment One.

Two-time Academy Award nominated writer David Magee will pen the screenplay. Magee’s credits include Finding Neverland, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, Life of Pi, and the upcoming Mary Poppins Returns.

In addition to the first Captain America movie and Jumanji, Johnston has also directed Honey I Shrunk the Kids, The Rocketeer, October Sky, Jurassic Park III, Hidalgo, and 2010’s The Wolfman.

Johnston started out in visual effects, working on the 1970s Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and the first Indiana Jones movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark, which he won an Oscar for.

He also did a bit of acting in his time with Star Wars, playing a Death Star trooper in the original and playing a Hoth rebel named Captain Shawn Valdez in The Empire Strikes Back.

No word yet on a timetable for when we might see The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair released. It’s also not yet known if the movie will feature any returning cast from the previous three entries in the series.
