The CW dropped all their bombs yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con, and Arrow arrived with a slick season 5 sizzle reel, along with a sneak peek at season 6. Some casting news accompanied the explosive video.
More below on the SDCC 2017 Arrow news.
So not only will Rick Gonzalez (Wild Dog) and Juliana Harkavy (Black Canary) now be series regulars (good for them!), season 6 will see the return and Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) mentor Anatoly (David Nykl). To top it all off, Michael Emerson, of LOST and Person of Interest fame, will be joining the show in an unspecified role. I love him, and he is so good at playing bad, that I hope he is a villain.
The trailer opens with all of the drama of last season, Adrian Chase and his seething hatred of Oliver Queen. We watch again the return of Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett) on the good side this time (sort of). And the island blows up once again. As fans we know most survived somehow, but when we first saw it, it looked impossible to escape. The peek of Season 4 looks to show Oliver as a single dad (that’s new and interesting), and Slade’s survival, as well as a Black Canary and Black Siren (Katie Cassidy) confrontation. But where are Felicity, John, Thea, Curtis, Quentin, Rene, and Dinah (Emily Bett Rickards, David Ramsey, Willa Holland, Echo Kellum, Paul Blackthorne, Gonzalez and Harkavy)? I assume William’s mom died. She was too new and probably would not fit in with the narrative. I guess we’ll see.
Arrow returns on a new night, Thursday, October 12th on The CW.
