A teaser trailer has made its way online for Hostiles, a western drama from Crazy Heart, Out of the Furnace, and Black Mass director Scott Cooper starring Christian Bale.
The movie made waves with screenings at the Telluride Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival, and it has been compared to the 1956 John Wayne classic The Searchers directed by John Ford.

Starring alongside Bale is Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl), Wes Studi (The Last of the Mohicans), Ben Foster (Hell or High Water), Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad), Stephen Lang (Tombstone), Q’orianka Kilcher (The New World), Rory Cochrane (Argo), Peter Mullan (Braveheart), Scott Wilson (The Walking Dead), Adam Beach (Suicide Squad), and Paul Anderson (The Revenant).
The movie follows Bale as Captain Joseph J. Blocker, who is tasked with escorting an old Indian enemy named Chief Yellow Hawk (Studi) back to his home in 1892. On the way he meets and picks up Rosalie Quaid (Pike), whose entire family was slaughtered in an Indian attack.
Bale’s performance in Hostiles has not surprisingly been causing some Oscar buzz to build. The only problem, is that the movie doesn’t have a distributor just yet. It’s assumed that, considering the positive response it has gotten, a distributor will scoop it up soon for an awards season run. We can only hope that is indeed the case, so we don’t have to wait a lot longer to see it.
