HVFF 2017: Spotlight On Vendors At Heroes and Villains FanFest, New Jersey

HVFF Mandalorian Mercs Cover

One of my very favorite parts of all conventions are the artists and vendors waiting to take my money, and Heroes and Villains FanFest was no different. Shirts, posters, POP!s, swords, paintings, designer coasters… you name it, they had it. There was even a tattoo parlor set up to the side of the panel stage. I spent a lot of money, and I could have spent so much more (had I not run out), but even just browsing the geeky goodies at HVFF was tons of fun.

Check out some of the awesome vendors below.

First stop on my shopping list was at artist Rob Hogan‘s booth where I scored a large Golden Girls painting for my sister’s Christmas gift. She will love it! In addition to that, I grabbed an It pic, just perfect to scare my nephew with.

Another big hit of the convention was Dragonsong Forge, maker of real and pop culture swords. When asked what was his best seller, the owner said that it depended on the convention. At Dragon Con, he only sold real stuff, no TV swords, but at this one he sold 24 Frostborns (WoW), and 1 Longclaw (GoT).

One really fun booth was the Mandalorian Mercs Costume Club, a non-profit that unites “Mandalorian and Star Wars fans through costuming, while focusing on charity and volunteerism in local communities.” Everyone wanted to pose with them and take pics, and the group not only looked great, but were all too happy to oblige.

The good folks at Luckydog Essentia & Curios had gorgeous tile coasters with pictures of television shows, movies, video games, and more. I picked up Super Mario 3 and Tyrion Lannister coasters for my brother-in-law, and grabbed a JAWS one for myself. One could even buy a table composed of nothing but Star Wars tiles.

With so many great things to choose from, it’s a wonder I had enough money for a pretzel at the end of the con.
