Disney and Pixar have released the final spirited trailer for Coco, Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina‘s computer animated film based on Dia De Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead when translated into English. The film is a celebration of the Mexican holiday which remembers those who have passed on to the afterlife.
Now with this final trailer, we are getting a better look at how Pixar’s latest honors diversity and culture. Check out the latest trailer below.
Coco has already opened in Mexico, where it has been well-received by critics. But most importantly, it has been a hit with audiences as it has earned $9.2 million in its opening weekend (October 27, 2017) and has grossed $27 million in its ten-day run. It’s a pretty nice haul for an animated film that has only opened in one country. So it should be interesting to see how it will do here in the States. We got a small glimpse of what is to come during a live-action performance of one of their songs during the last D23 Expo. Let’s just say it was bright, spirited, and very beautiful to watch, and if it looked like that in real life, I can’t wait to see what the animated film has to offer.
