The first image has been released of Metallica frontman James Hetfield as Officer Bob Hayward on the set of Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, the upcoming Ted Bundy biopic starring Zac Efron as the infamous serial killer.
The movie follows the story of Bundy and the horrific acts he committed from the perspective of his longtime girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer (played by Lily Collins), who lived in denial of who he really was for many years.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is directed by Joe Berlinger, who shared the image via his Instagram account. Berlinger is best known for directing true crime documentaries like Brother’s Keeper, Whitey: United States of America v. James J. Bulger, and the Paradise Lost trilogy. He’s also dabbled in Hollywood features, having directed Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2.
Berlinger is no stranger to Metallica and Hetfield. He also directed the doc Metallica: Some Kind of Monster in 2004, as well as the documentary short follow-up Metallica: This Monster Lives in 2014. Metallica was also among the many big names who spoke out on the wrongful imprisonment of the West Memphis Three documented in the above mentioned Paradise Lost trilogy.
Starring alongside Efron, Collins, and Hetfield in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is Kaya Scodelario, Haley Joel Osment, Angela Sarafyan, Jeffrey Donovan, John Malkovich, Jim Parsons, Dylan Baker, and more.
