20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for The Predator, the latest in the sci-fi action series which began with 1987’s Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Someone else who starred in the ’87 original is Shane Black, who’s behind the camera as director this time around. After starring in the original—his first real acting job following an uncredited appearance as a cop in Night of the Creeps the year before—Black eventually went on to direct titles like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Iron Man 3, and most recently The Nice Guys before coming full circle back to the Predator franchise.
Some of the cast members also teased the release of the trailer with shots of their characters from the movie. You can find those, along with more info on the movie and the teaser trailer below.
SYNOPSIS:
From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.
Starring in the movie is Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Jacob Tremblay, Yvonne Strahovski, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Jake Busey, and Augusto Aguilera.
Black directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Fred Dekker. The roles were reversed the same year the original Predator came out when the pair wrote the screenplay for The Monster Squad, which Dekker directed. Dekker also directed the aforementioned Night of the Creeps.
The Predator will be released in theaters on September 14th.
