‘Rick and Morty’ Season 4 Confirmed As Adult Swim Orders 70 New Episodes — Yes, 70!

Rick and Morty

Because of how massively popular Rick and Morty has become, it was automatically assumed that a season four was on the way. Fans knew it would be a while, but one day it would arrive and that patience would be rewarded. Then came the troubling surprise that, despite fans already being nearly half a year into the wait for season four, that season hadn’t even been ordered yet. Much worry spread.

At the time I theorized that perhaps Adult Swim was just as excited as the rest of us about the show and forgot to do the proper paperwork. Or perhaps they wanted to top that memorable April Fools’ Day joke. Whatever the case, all has now been remedied and all is well in the world once again (sorta) as Adult Swim has not only confirmed season four, but they’ve ordered 70 new episodes. 70. FREAKIN’. EPISODES. That’s more than double the amount of episodes we’ve gotten since the show debuted back in December of 2013 to look forward to.

Show creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon made the big announcement that they were heading back to work, rather hygienically, in a video you can find below with the full announcement.

From the Turner Press Room:

Seventy New Episodes Will Keep Fans Schwifty For Years To Come

Fans all over the multiverse can rest easy tonight, as show creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland announced while taking a shower this morning on Instagram, that they are heading back to work on their hit animated series, Rick and Morty. Adult Swim has made a long-term overall deal with the creators that will include 70 new episodes of the critically acclaimed series that follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his inherently timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe.

Deemed what a “modern day hit” looks like, Rick and Morty was the #1 comedy across all of television in 2017 with millennials and has become a multi-platform sensation not just on television, but across digital, gaming, livestreaming, retail, and fan experiences.

In celebration of the deal, fans can look forward to the return of the highly successful country-wide tour of the Rickmobile, which hits the road on May 17th starting in Atlanta, GA. The one-of-a-kind mobile pop-up shop will be offering new exclusive, custom-designed show collectibles at more than 50 stops, including San Diego Comic Con in July.

Adult Swim continues to be the #1 cable destination for young adults, changing the game with one of a kind programming and producing innovative and immersive fan experiences with Adult Swim on the Green and the upcoming Adult Swim Festival in October.

And you thought that they were joking in the Rick and Morty Forever, 100 Years scene and the 97 years to hunt down some of that McDonald’s Szechuan sauce series arc scene.

Buckle up, kids. We’re going on many more intergalactic and interdimensional adventures.
