Danai Gurira‘s Okoye may have had one too many scene-stealing moments in Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, and let’s hope she can transfer all of that into some of the roles that she is circling now.
According to various reports the actor is in talks to star in Godzilla vs. Kong, and is also circling a role in Star Trek 4 – which would reunite her with her fellow Avengers: Infinity War co-star Chris Hemsworth. Check out the full story below.
Gurira’s possible casting in Godzilla vs. Kong comes to us from Deadline. According to their report, if she signs on, she would join Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) and Julian Dennison (Hunt For the Wilderpeople, Deadpool 2). Adam Wingard is directing.
While the film is pretty much self-explanatory, it remains to be seen how the film will bring these two giants together to fight each other. Brown is reprising the role that she plays in Godzilla: King of the Monsters – don’t forget to check out the newly released images if you haven’t seen them – which will be released next year.
Here’s what director Michael Dougherty had to say about King of the Monsters in quotes that accompanied those images:
“The world is reacting to Godzilla in the same way we would react to any other terrifying incident, in that we are overreacting. But there’s paranoia and endless speculation about whether he is the only one out there or whether we’re threatened by others like his kind.”
Based on those early teases, King of the Monsters will be a brawl unlike the world has ever seen. Mothra, King Ghidorah, and Rodan are all expected to fight Godzilla, and each other, for the crown. And that will be a sight to behold. Let’s just hope it lives up to our expectations though.
As for her possible role in Star Trek 4, that remains unclear as well. But it doesn’t appear that the project is as in flux as we first thought. Should she sign on, she would get in front of the camera of director S.J. Clarkson, the first female director to helm a Star Trek film. It’s not clear who she would play, but it would be a shame not to utilize her physicality as we have seen in The Walking Dead and Marvel Studios’ Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War. No release date has been set for this film.
Of course, we will keep you up to date on the progress of both of these films should any new developments come in.
