Production has just wrapped for Birds Of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) – yes, that’s the actual title of the film starring Margot Robbie, who is reprising her DC Expanded Universe role as Harley Quinn. In the upcoming film, Harley Quinn finds herself teaming up with a band of DC female heroes to fight Black Mask (Ewan McGregor). Though details are still limited, this will be the first time that there has been an all-female superhero ensemble from a major studio. Check out the photo from the set here below.
Robbie posted the photo of the chair with a brand new look of the Birds Of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) title card on the Lucky Chap Entertainment Instagram account. On it, the Birds Of Prey title has all sorts of nods to the characters: an arrow for Huntress, a bat for Harley, a knife — presumably, for Zsasz — a diamond, a large hammer, brass knuckles. The (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) portion is then scribbled in pink in between the Birds Of Prey stacked title.
Of course, judging by the start of production video that we saw, it looks like Birds Of Prey will be unlike anything we’ve seen from any of the previous DCEU films, but let’s just hope that it continues the momentum.
As for any details, well, there wasn’t much, just a small caption that reads: That’s a wrap! 💋.
Here is the list of characters that will appear in the film: Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), and Gotham City detective Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), along with Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco), and Black Mask (Ewan McGregor) and Victor Zsasz (Chris Messina).
Directed by Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs), who uses a script written by Christina Hodson (Bumblebee), Birds Of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) opens in theaters on February 7, 2020.
