CBS Films has released a new trailer for Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, the upcoming adaptation of author Alvin Schwartz and artist Stephen Gammell‘s classic horror books of the same name.
The trailer mainly focuses on one of the horrifying beings that the characters will encounter, which is known as the “Jangly Man.” Continue below for a synopsis and the new trailer, as well as a recently released featurette with director André Øvredal, producer Guillermo del Toro, and some of the cast talking about the movie, and some other goodies that have been released in recent weeks.
SYNOPSIS:
It’s l968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind”¦but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time””stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying tome.
Starring in Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur, and Natalie Ganzhorn.
Patrick Melton, Marcus Dunstan, and del Toro wrote the story for the movie, while Dan Hageman and Kevin Hageman penned the screenplay.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is set to be released on August 9th.
