As a kid, I thoroughly enjoyed Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark from author Alvin Schwartz and illustrator Stephen Gammell. The way that the creepy writing married with the bone-chilling imagery carved out my love for horror at a very young age. These pictures weren’t easy to look at, either. But as disturbing as they are, they were fascinating pieces of work. The way that the blacks and grays worked in unison against a white background evoked a wide range of emotions from fear to intrigue. And the same can be said for the writing, which was simple and yet did not skimp on any of the gory details. All of it just pulled you into a world that is both frightening and yet you want to visit.

‘Saw,’ ‘Piranha 3DD’ Scribes Resurrecting Michael Myers In ‘Halloween Returns’

Remember back in February when it was announced that the never-ending Halloween franchise was preparing to spawn yet another installment of the kill crazy adventures of everyone’s favorite silent, slaughtering wraith Michael Myers? The word they were using this time was “recalibration,” because “reboot” had officially become so last decade.
It’s still happening, and whether or not that’s a good thing depends entirely on you. Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, the screenwriters of four Saw sequels, all three Feast flicks, the 2009 horror sleeper hit The Collector and its 2012 follow-up The Collection, and Piranha 3DD, are hard at work on the motion picture that is now being referred to publicly as Halloween Returns. Dunstan, who directed The Collector and The Collection, is also currently on board to direct.

‘Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark’ Movie On The Way From ‘Saw’ Writers

Did you ever read Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark as a kid, leading to much regret as a mostly sleepless or nightmare-laced night followed? Yeah, me too. Me too.
The collection of short horror tales by Alvin Schwartz spanned three books, and the unsettling illustrations (so long as you get the older books with art by Stephen Gammell, NOT the disgraceful newer ones I just found out exist) alone were enough to send ice rushing through your veins. Now someone wants to bring these terrors to life.
It’s been announced that CBS Films has grabbed onto the project after a pitch by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan.

‘God Of War’ Writers Promise Some Very Big Things

Not to be out done by the news that Columbia and Avi Arid will be releasing a film adaptation of Metal Gear Solid, comes the latest development from newly hired God of War writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. For those who don’t know, the game follows Kratos, a fallen Spartan general who seeks to carry out his revenge against the very gods who condemned him.
Melton and Dunstan’s writing credits, which include Feast and Saw IV – VII, might not bode well for the God of War film, but they did pen the rewrites for Pacific Rim.
