Forbidden Knowledge
101 Things No One Should Know How to Do
Hardcover | Kindle
By Owen Brooks
Publisher: Adams Media
Release date: October 8, 2019

Since the beginning of time, humans have had an insatiable thirst for forbidden knowledge, and even though history has shown we’ve gotten into a lot of trouble for it, still our quest to learn more continues. That’s probably why Adams Media has continued to release new installments in their Forbidden Knowledge line of books for over a decade now.

This time around, author Owen Brooks has compiled instructions for 101 Things No One Should Know How to Do, which is basically a simplified survival guide for unlikely and/or preposterous scenarios, several of which are also dangerous and sometimes criminal. Some is stuff you shouldn’t have to know, but just in case, it tells you what to do.

The Lady From The Black Lagoon book cover banner

I’ve been wanting to read The Lady from the Black Lagoon: Hollywood Monsters and the Lost Legacy of Milicent Patrick by Mallory O’Meara ever since it was released in Hardcover earlier this year. With my birthday coming up in a few weeks, I went to Amazon to add it to my Wish List and saw that the Kindle Edition is only $1.99 right now!

I immediately bought it (I read my Kindle books through the app on my iPad Mini). So, if this book has been on your to-read list, I suggest you do the same immediately because I do not know how long this sale will last.

The End Of The World by Don Hertzfeldt book cover banner

The End Of The World
Hardcover | Kindle
By Don Hertzfeldt
Publisher: Random House
Release date: October 1, 2019

With a title like The End Of The World you’d think I’d know what’s to come, yet somehow, I was still blindsided by this book. Perhaps it was the whimsical hand-drawn stars that lined the top of the stark yet classy hardcover that gave me a glimmer of hope. Or maybe the back cover’s humorous blurbs, boasting “Full of pages, from cover to cover…” and “This is practically a book” that lulled me into a false sense of security. Or possibly that the unexpected heft I felt as I removed the book’s shrink wrapping led me to believe that a product of this outward aesthetic must surely have a matching interior. But after opening the book, I realized I was in for something completely different.
