Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time #1
Written by Paul Allor
Art by Ross Campbell
Colors by Bill Crabtree
Letters by Shawn Lee
Editor: Bobby Curnow
Covers by David Petersen, and Ross Campbell
IDW Publishing
Release Date: June 18, 2014
Cover Price: $3.99 TMNT: Turtles in Time #1 starts with action and doesn’t stop until the very last page. Then, it starts again. This book was NOT what I was expecting at all, but sometimes, that’s a good thing. Writer Paul Allor brings us into the middle of the story that hasn’t even been told yet!!! How awesome is that? And don’t worry, later in the year the rest of THAT story is coming, but for right now, all you need is this issue. Allor pens a fantastic “fish out of water” story, with the Turtles being thrust into a strange world (we’re not sure if it’s even EARTH!), and dumps the Turtles right into the thick of a fight between the Utroms and some really nasty dinosaurs.

Covers by Paco Rodriques, Pilot Studios, Jose Holder, Jon Sommerive, and Andrea Freccero

Release Date: June 11, 2014
Cover Price: $3.99 Angry Birds #1 is 100% less frustrating than the game is. BUT is it as much fun? Let’s find out… Writer Jeff Parker is the PERFECT fit for this comic! He gives us three shorter stories in the issue that remind me a lot of some old Looney Tunes or Tom & Jerry cartoons. He gives each and every bird a unique and different personality, and every single one of them is pretty funny. The pigs, obviously, play the villains of each story. The best part about the book is that it’s FUNNY. I’m not sure that I’d want to read a serious, superhero-like Angry Birds comic — in fact, I know I wouldn’t. This comic keeps the tone of the game, which is light-hearted, joke filled, and FUN!!

DC Entertainment recently debuted two new featurettes from the upcoming CW show The Flash. While both feature actor Tom Cavanagh, who plays “Dr. Harrison Wells” of STAR Labs, each one takes a look at some different characters in the show. The first, called “Impossible Man,” takes a look at the show’s star character, Barry Allen (played by actor Grant Gustin), and gives us a look at his special abilities. The second clip gives a look at two team members of STAR Labs, Cisco Ramon (played by actor Carlos Valdes), and Dr. Caitlin Snow (played by actress Danielle Panabaker) and their challenges of figuring out Barry’s new powers. Watch both videos here below.

The Six Million Dollar Man, Season Six #3
Written by Jim Kuhoric
Art by Juan Antonio Ramirez
Colors by Fran Gamboa
Letters by Joshua Cozine
Covers by Alex Ross and Ken Haeser
Dynamite Entertainment
Release Date: May 21, 2014
Cover Price: $3.99 In The Six Million Dollar Man, Season Six #3, Steve Austin has a LOT of work to do! And, most of it, he’s not even aware of yet. Will he make it through? C’mon, it’s Steve Austin! Once again, writer Jim Kuhoric does a fantastic job at writing this comic. It’s got everything that you want to see and more. Think of it as watching the original television series, but with today’s special effects. That’s the great thing about comics. NOTHING is off limits. He doesn’t have a producer or a studio to answer to or one that will not allow him to do certain things because it would be too expensive. So, he shoots for the moon, and he totally scores! This issue is packed with action, subplots, and all around great action. There are healthy doses of mystery, suspense, and all-out fun. Comics that are written like this are few and far between.
