I guess we can file this news under the “No Duh” department, but after the new The Karate Kid movie decimated all other box office competition with a $56 million opening weekend, Sony Pictures has now begun taking meetings with writers concerning a second installment.
I believe it is a simple case of dollars and cents. When a movie that costs $40 million makes $56 million the first weekend, you have a success. Of course, we haven’t even considered the overseas profits or the money that they will make from DVD sales. Love it or hate it, Sony has rebooted a successful franchise and will make even more money from this concept in the future.

Idle Hands and Shocker Toys have joined forces to create the first Idle Hands exclusive action figure — MUCUS TICK!!
Mucus Tick appeared in an episode of the classic Tick animated series called “The Tick vs. The Uncommon Cold” where the Tick had an Uncommon Cold. An evil alien took his mucus and gave it life. So, basically, it’s a Tick made of snot. This was a very gross yet memorable episode of the Tick series. Essentially, this action figure is a variant edition of the Shocker Toys Indie Spotlight Series 2 Tick figure painted translucent green to resemble mucus. The action figure is a limited edition with only 1,000 figures made. Mucus Tick went on sale today Friday May 28, 2010 at 10AM East Coast Time. Mucus Tick is available in the Shocker Toys Web Store.

Shout! Factory will be expanding on their previous relationship with Marvel Animation by releasing a series of titles under the Marvel Knights banner.
On July 13, The Super Hero Squad Show will be released on DVD, then it will be followed by releases of the Astonishing X-Men: Gifted motion comic, the Spider-Woman motion comic, the Iron Man: Extremis motion comic, and the previously unaired Black Panther series produced by BET. More titles are still to be announced. I am really excited about these releases. I watched several installments of the Spider-Woman comic and the first installment of the Astonishing X-Men: Gifted motion comic. Also, I have really enjoyed The Super Hero Squad Show with its “kiddie” versions of Marvel Comics heroes.

What if you were the world’s vilest, nastiest villain? What if you decided to change your ways? Would anyone believe you? Could you permanently change everything about the way you lived your life? These are the questions that are posed by the story of Max Danger, formerly known as supervillain Max Damage. Incorruptible takes place in the same universe as Irredeemable, the comic about Plutonian, a beloved hero who turned into an evil, heartless villain. This is the story of the flip side of that coin. Max Danger watches Plutonian attack a town, and the incident changes him. He decides to become a hero. Of course, now he has to convince everyone that his conversion is legitimate.
